Great product especially for water sports

This product is great for several reasons. First, it is non-toxic. Second, it covers really well. You get a really good coverage of zinc on your skin. Third, it does not come off with sweat or water. However, that is also a downside because it does not wash off well with water or even soap and water. You need to mechanically remove the product from your skin with a rough towel or even paper towel. Nevertheless, while I don't use this for water sports, I love that it does not get removed by sweat. So it stays in place for the hours of my workout. Thanks Butterbean, I love the product although you may want to consider making a second product that is easier to remove for more casual use than water sports or long periods of exercise.

Simple and Effective!

Easy to just shake and spray! No sunburns on my four kiddos since we started using Butterbean! And it makes for one happy Momma since I know that I am choosing a product that is safe for my little ones! Also, I am highly sensitive to gluten and I love knowing that I can have this sunscreen on and eat without cross-contamilating myself as we enjoy our lunch in the sun :)

Q: Is Butterbean sunscreen waterproof?

No sunscreen is 100% waterproof. Water-resistant means that the sunscreen retains its original SPF after 40 minutes in warm moving water; very water-resistant means after 80 minutes. Laboratory testing has provided the data that all of our sunscreens are very water-resistant for 80 minutes! Please remember to reapply after swimming.

Q: Are Butterbean Sunscreens tested for SPF, water-resistant, and Broad Spectrum claims?

Yes! Our organic skincare products are FDA compliant and have been tested on human subjects with FDA-approved laboratory procedures. Our product claims are SPF30, 80-minutes of water resistance, and UVA/UVB.

Q: How do I apply Butterbean Sunscreens?

Butterbean organic sunscreens are third-party tested to ensure an SPF of 30. SPF is dependent on the proper application of the sunscreen. In the FDA SPF test, approximately a full ounce of sunscreen is used to cover an adult body. It is important when using mineral sunscreens that you apply enough sunscreen to cover the skin well. Applying half the amount of sunscreen can leave you with a significantly lower SPF. Remember, mineral sunscreen sits on the surface of the skin. If the sunscreen is rubbed off by towel drying, sand, surf, sweat, or other, protection will be decreased. Apply a thick layer and rub in. Reapply at least every 2 hours.

Organic sun cream lotion helps reduce your chances of skin cancer and early skin-aging. Plus, Butterbean sunscreen is chemical-free and non-toxic.

Our natural sunscreen works by blocking and absorbing UVA and UVB rays.

Q: How much sunscreen to use on face?

It’s recommended that you apply approximately half of a teaspoon amount of sunblock cream to your face.

Q: Is Butterbean organic sunscreen greasy?

Butterbean rubs in smoothly and is easily absorbed. Coconut, Olive, and Jojoba oils are known for the ability to penetrate the skin without leaving an oily feel. Butterbean makes an excellent non-greasy moisturizer.

Q: How long will your organic sunscreen stay fresh?

Chemical Preservatives are not used in Butterbean sunscreen. Butterbean is anhydrous meaning no water is contained in the product, and the oils we use are stable. An expiration date will be stamped on your container. Our products are good for 2 years. Also, keep in mind that water, dirt, etc., in the container will introduce bacteria and could affect the shelf life.

Q: Does sunscreen darken your skin?

No, because our sunscreen skincare products are chemical-free and natural, they do not harm your skin like other products might. Our sunscreen does what you need it to do: protect your skin from sun damage.

Q: Is it good to use sunscreen every day?

A healthy lotion sunscreen or sunscreen cream should be applied anytime you are outside in order to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun.

Q: How long does sunscreen last?

Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours and after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, and immediately after towel drying. For children under 6 months, ask a doctor for specific instructions on using sun skin cream.
